The following are some suggestions we have compiled from the Ministry of the Environment, which outlines some precautions and things to consider to help mosquito infestations and control the population of mosquitoes on your property. Keep in mind these will only help to reduce the favorable conditions which are the optimal breeding conditions for mosquitos.

Mosquito Control, Reduce Stagnant / Standing Water!

  1. First identify any areas on your property that water tends to collect. This may include depression in your lawn, tires ruts and any other low areas that seem to hold water after heavy rainfalls.
  2. Remove structures that accumulate water including: cans, jars, tired, clogged roof gutters, certain yard décor and cover any rain barrels with tight fitting fly screens.
  3. Ensure any coverings of pools, patio furniture, yard equipment or any other objects that might currently have cover have no standing water pooling for longer than seven (7) days.
  4. Keep in mind any of these areas that could potentially breed mosquitoes the water must not remain for more than a seven(7) period as this is the optimal time wherein the larva can spawn and hatch.
