How to Kill Dandelions

There are many different options when determining how to effectively kill dandelions.  Dandelions can be difficult to completely eliminate so selecting the right control method is important.

Dandelions have a deep central tap root so attempting to manually remove them is difficult to make sure you get the entire root.  If not, the dandelion will quickly grow back or a large hole is left when the roots have been pulled out.  Applying a selective broadleaf herbicide is an effective option to kill dandelions without harming the grass.

Several product options are available ranging from natural dandelion killers made with iron concentrate (Fiesta lawn weed killer FeHEDTA) and traditional synthetic dandelion killer.  The best time to kill dandelions is after they have grown or when they are actively growing.
